How the process works

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan need a visa to travel to Australia.

Australia offers several types of visa depending on the purpose of the trip:

• tourism and short trips

• study

• long-term stays

The process is entirely digital: you submit your documents online through the official Australian immigration portal, then complete biometrics and, if required, a medical examination.

Each application is assessed individually, taking account of the purpose of the trip, the applicant's finances and their visa history.

Types of visa

1. Tourist visa (Subclass 600)

Suitable for:

• tourism

• visiting friends and family

• short business trips

• short courses and language programmes

Key features:

• a stay of usually 3 to 12 months

• study is permitted for no more than 3 months

• not intended for long-term residence or study

2. Student visa (Subclass 500)

Suitable for:

• study at schools, colleges and universities

• long-term language courses

• study programmes lasting more than 6 months

Key features:

• allows you to stay in Australia for the duration of your studies

• permits limited work during your studies

• requires confirmation of enrolment at an institution

• you must prove sufficient funds

How to apply

1. Online application

• create an account on the official Australian immigration portal

• complete the application form

• upload your documents electronically

• pay the visa fee

2. Biometrics

• provide fingerprints and a photograph

• carried out at an accredited visa centre

• an appointment must be booked in advance

3. Medical examination (for the 500 visa)

• carried out at an accredited clinic

• scheduled after you submit your application

• required for most students

• any gaps in study or work (educational gap)

The student visa applies the GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) principle: you must show that your stay is temporary and that you genuinely intend to return home.
