How the application works

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan can enter Malaysia visa-free for short trips, which makes it an easy destination for tourism and brief visits.

For a longer stay, study or other purposes, however, you will need the appropriate visa or permit.

Visa-free entry

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan may stay in Malaysia without a visa for up to 30 days, provided that:

• the purpose of the trip is tourism or a short visit

• they hold a valid international passport

• the passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date

• the permitted length of stay is observed

On entry, you may be asked for:

• a return ticket

• proof of accommodation (a hotel booking)

• proof of sufficient funds (roughly the equivalent of 100 USD per day)

• an immigration card (completed on arrival)

Once through border control, the passport is stamped with the entry date and the permitted exit date.

Important: overstaying can lead to fines, deportation and restrictions on future entry.

How to apply for a student visa

The process usually runs as follows:

• admission to an institution

• receiving an official invitation

• applying through the institution

• obtaining the entry approval (Visa Approval Letter)

• entering the country and taking up student status

• proof of tuition payment (partial or full)

• financial documents

• health insurance
