Student and Tourist Visa to China (2024–2026)

How the application works

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan need a visa to travel to China, except in certain visa-free cases (for example, group trips, transit or special entry regimes).

The visa is arranged in advance through Chinese consulates or accredited visa centres. Depending on the purpose of the trip, either a tourist or a student visa is issued.

Types of visas

1. Tourist visa (L visa)

Suitable for:

• tourism

• visiting friends and relatives

• individual trips

Key features:

• can be single- or double-entry

• usually valid for up to 90 days

• maximum stay per trip — up to 30 days

• multiple-entry tourist visas are generally not issued

2. Student visa (X visa)

Suitable for:

• studying at universities and educational institutions

• long-term educational programmes

Key features:

• an official invitation from the educational institution is required

• divided into short-term (X2) and long-term (X1)

• X1 usually requires further arrangement of a residence permit in China

• proof of enrolment is required

How to apply for a visa
