How the process works

Documents for a UK visa are submitted by prior appointment at a visa application centre.

In Kyrgyzstan, applicants submit their documents through the visa application centre that works with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

The whole submission system is electronic:

• you complete the application form online

• you upload your documents to your account before the visit

• if needed, you can use the paid document-scanning service at the visa application centre

You can only apply in person, as biometric data (fingerprints and a photograph) must be provided.

• Children under 5 do not give fingerprints, but must attend

• Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult

Student visa to the United Kingdom

If you are planning to study:

• Up to 6 months — you can apply for a Visitor visa (tourist)

  • suitable for short courses

  • easier to obtain

  • no medical examination required

• More than 6 months — you need to apply for a Student visa

  • confirmation of admission (CAS) is required

  • a medical examination is compulsory (at accredited clinics)

  • a higher consular fee applies

• Short-term Student visa (6–11 months) — for learning English

Which visas are available

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan can apply for the following types of UK visa:

• Visitor visa
  (tourism, visits, business trips, short-term study up to 6 months)

• Student / Child Student visa
  (study at schools, colleges and universities)

• Short-term Student visa
  (English courses of 6–11 months)

• Parent of a Child Student visa
  (for parents of children under 12 studying in the United Kingdom)

• Graduate visa
  (for graduates of British universities)

Processing times

• Standard time: around 3 weeks (15 working days)

• In practice, it can take longer because of additional checks

Recommended times to apply:

• Student visa — no earlier than 6 months before your course begins

• Tourist visa — no earlier than 3 months before the trip

Priority processing may be available, depending on where you apply and the current conditions at the visa application centre.
